From most of these album covers you get a direct eye line with the character making the intimidating and dangerous. They focus a lot on where they are from and what there background is like for example Eminem's album cover "8 mile" this album was basically made for the film made about Eminem's life in his late teens/ early twenties. 8 mile is a road in Detroit where Eminem was bought up. In the album lyrics and film it is portrayed as a very run down lower class area. Eminem had many problems in his life to do with family, death and drugs and he raps about his problems in his songs.
Again in the background of Nas' album Nastradamus you can see him with his hood up looking more as a youth before he came very successful he has his hood off to maybe show he is hiding something he is doing wrong and also intimidating. In the background you can see high flats this is a similar location to which he was bought up in with very little money. If you compare this album cover to one of his most recent "God's son" there is a huge contrast. You can instantly see that he has become very successful because of the background, looks as if he is in a hot country relaxing. He has also changed the expression on his face, he is looking down away from the camera. He also wears a lot more jewellery this shows he could be quite rich. The necklace shows he is religious and a lot more sophisticated.
