1. Music video demonstrates genre characteristics
In Kanye Wests's homecoming video he demonstrates this theory by the editing. It is edited in black and white to make everything standout. There is a lot of focus on the background and where he is the big modern building makes him look like he has become successful. Typical modern building and city shots which relate to the normal stereotypes of hip hop music for example Nas and Tupac. The low angle shot makes Kanye look powerful and wearing fashionable clothing makes him a role model. He also relates to grime artists and shows his roots by wearing more gangster clothing like the balaclava. The slow motion shot of him leading the group also makes him look like the leader and everyone is following him and wants to be him. His hand gestures also are also gestures you see in hip hop and rap regulatory.

Album cover research
As the genre of music our group is doing is Hip hop i decided to research album covers to get some ideas for our own digi pack.

From most of these album covers you get a direct eye line with the character making the intimidating and dangerous. They focus a lot on where they are from and what there background is like for example Eminem's album cover "8 mile" this album was basically made for the film made about Eminem's life in his late teens/ early twenties. 8 mile is a road in Detroit where Eminem was bought up. In the album lyrics and film it is portrayed as a very run down lower class area. Eminem had many problems in his life to do with family, death and drugs and he raps about his problems in his songs.
Again in the background of Nas' album Nastradamus you can see him with his hood up looking more as a youth before he came very successful he has his hood off to maybe show he is hiding something he is doing wrong and also intimidating. In the background you can see high flats this is a similar location to which he was bought up in with very little money. If you compare this album cover to one of his most recent "God's son" there is a huge contrast. You can instantly see that he has become very successful because of the background, looks as if he is in a hot country relaxing. He has also changed the expression on his face, he is looking down away from the camera. He also wears a lot more jewellery this shows he could be quite rich. The necklace shows he is religious and a lot more sophisticated.

As we will only be recreating the first minute we only need one actor who plays Mikill Pane. We decided that Rojan Gurung would be a good choice as he knew what to do and knew the lyrics.

Preliminary location and filming schedule
Location
We will be filming locally within Newport at the Recreational ground. We are filming here because it is very convenient, it looks the same and matches the original music video and there is also water access which we needed for the video.
Schedule
The date we planned to film was July 3rd at a time we were all free. This was 9 am till approximately 12.30 pm. It did not matter what time of the day we filmed as long as it was during the day so it matched Mikill Panes original.

Summer in the city shotlist
Because we didn't have any internet access where we were filming we had to print off a shot list of Summer in the city to make sure we could create it shot for shot. Without out this we would not have known what types of shots to use for example close up of Mikill Pane and the timings of each shot.
Summer in the city- Mikill pane
Summer in the city is a very fun and lively song and is very catchy. It portrays a true British summer for example you can see dark clouds above and there is no bright colours. His lyrics relates to British citizens thoughts "it never stays out for too long, the sun shines bright but it seems the clouds are too storng" this is true and also links to how British summer weather can be so unpredictable. "About the one thing you want all year long but my friends its like a trophy England's never got it for long" This quote shows how desperate we are for some sun and is also quite humorous linking it to English sports inconsistency especially football. The whole video also portrays how people go crazy when the sun does eventually come out "but when its hot i get it on like factor fifty".
